I came upon Looking For Group (LFG) at the suggestion of my fiancé who was laughing so hard that tears were leaking out the corners of his eyes at the hilarious antics of the rag tag crew. He was about 40 pages ahead of me though and I spent a good while catching up. I remember almost every page offering at least giggle, if not tear inducing laughter.

LFG is a Canadian webcomic written by Ryan Sohmer and drawn by Lar DeSouza following the adventures and journey of Cale’Anon the elf hunter, Richard the undead warlock, Benn’Joon (or Benny for short) the troll priestess, Krunch Bloodrage (who appears to be tauren in race) the scholar, and Pella the dwarf fighter.

The style of the comic suggests that it was originally meant to be a parody of Blizzard’s World of Warcraft as many of the characters not only resemble the races of the popular MMO but also share the same styling of armor, weaponry, and spells. The parody doesn’t stop there though, the comic also features guest character appearances that resemble characters such as Frodo Baggins, Obi Wan Kenobi, and even a Smurf. In addition, they often parody lines from the Lord of the Rings, and many other pop culture references as well, making for one of the most hilarious comics I have ever read. My utmost favorite parody that LFG has done is a video mimicking the tune of The Little Mermaid song “Part of Your World” called “Slaughter Your World” with Dave B. Mitchell as the voice of Richard the undead warlock singing. I love it so much I had to include it below. They are supposed to have a 90 minute feature film “Looking For Dick: The Origins of Richard” releasing in late 2010… I can’t wait!! Until then please enjoy the musical harmony of slaughter.
